Overview

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for an Electrical Engineer in Richland, WA.

About the Project

This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
  • Support the 222-S Complex with electrical engineering, project engineering, and other duties as assigned with minimal supervision.
  • Perform a variety of engineering duties including new electrical equipment design and upgrades of existing electrical systems.
  • Conduct electrical safety evaluations and determine electrical worker personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Develop and approve work packages and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Conduct field walk-downs, equipment selection, and parts ordering.
  • Perform and/or review calculations, testing, design/procedural reviews.
  • Assist in planning and execution of field work.
  • Perform engineering work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, procedures, and criteria.
  • Demonstrate problem solving and exercise judgment as required on advanced-level work details.
  • May direct the activities of technicians and/or other engineers as assigned.
Under Minimal Supervision
  • Incorporate conventional engineering practices into problem solving and program planning where only general objectives are stated.
  • Assume technical responsibility for one or more related phases of a project and coordinate various phases of design with other engineers.
  • May function as the lead on project or departmental task assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with technical requirements of assigned work, proper utilisation, and training of personnel operating under one's technical guidance.
  • Ensure appropriate technical performance of the end product designed and developed to resolve the original problem.
  • Use and/or application of codes and standards, engineering principles, to prepare electrical designs and other design engineering documents as assigned.
  • Implement and manage Preventative Maintenance (PM) for assigned systems.
  • Support the team planning process to develop work instruction to safely implement designs within the 222-S Complex.
  • Oversee field modifications and acceptance testing and perform field work walk-downs.
  • Prepare technical reports, review designs, plans, and shop drawings.
  • Perform electrical analysis using MathCad, AutoCAD, Smart Plant, and other software.
  • Apply working knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety in the Work Place), and other codes, manuals, and standards.
  • Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, maintenance, operations, financial, and program management disciplines.
  • Demonstrate interpolative thinking and creative ability through problem-solving.
  • Propose solutions and alternatives and provide recommendations.
  • Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on technical content.
