Position Overview
An Electrical Engineer I is a key contributor in the design and delivery of issue‑for‑construction (IFC) drawings and reports for utility‑scale solar and battery storage projects. This role supports the team by completing AutoCAD design tasks, calculations, and electrical studies under the guidance of experienced mentors. The position includes a structured advancement path that promotes continuous skill development, increased responsibility, and long‑term career growth.
What You’ll Do
- Design and Engineer PV or BESS systems from 5 MW to 500+ MW in size.
- Generate accurate and detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD including but not limited to one‑line and three‑line diagrams, electrical layouts, AC/DC schematics, AC/DC cable schedules, wiring diagrams, grounding, trenching, and conduit details.
- Perform LVAC, MVAC and DC calculations related to cable sizing, voltage drop, string sizing etc.
- Site specific energy modelling using PVSYST, SAM etc
- Coordinate activities between clients, utilities, permit agencies, contractors, and other engineering firms.
- Manage individual projects or project portfolios by leading client calls, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals and performing site visits as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and codes.
- Perform any other duties as needed.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s in electrical engineering or other related discipline.
- 2+ years’ experience designing commercial, DG or utility scale solar PV systems.
- 2+ years’ experience working with AutoCAD with an understanding of layer control, annotative dimensioning/scaling, sheet sets, blocks, xrefs, line weights, plot files, and file transmission.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, PVSyst
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Sound understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Excellent Time Management and ability to work in teams
- Research Oriented, Attention to Detail
- Experience with designing BESS systems preferred
- Hands on experience installing, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting solar PV systems preferred
- NABCEP Certification preferred
Physical Requirements
- Requires prolonged sitting (50%), frequent bending (5%), stooping (5%), and standing (25%).
- Requires the ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Involves a high‑stress environment due to responsibility for company operations and meeting deadlines.
- Requires handling detailed and complex concepts, balancing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Hours may be long and irregular depending on workload and deadlines.
- Requires hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Requires normal vision range and color perception.
