Job summary

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is hiring an Assistant Engineer I to support the Power Operations & Planning section. You will assist with engineering studies, analyses, documentation, and compliance activities in a collaborative environment.

Hybrid work is allowed with two days in person weekly; learning from experienced engineers and contributing to meaningful projects is emphasized. A California drivers license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science/Computer Engineering by hired date.
• Valid California Class C Drivers License or equivalent at time of application.
• Sponsorship not required for employment in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Learn and assist with planning, coordinating, and supporting engineering projects related to bulk electric power systems.
• Learn and assist with engineering analyses using industry-standard software and quantitative methods.
• Prepare technical reports, correspondence, presentations, and engineering documents.
• Interpret bulk electric system reliability standards and help implement a compliance program.
• Maintain project records, databases, and official documents.
• Explore AI developments and help apply ML tools to improve reliability and efficiency.
