Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. in Chapel Hill is seeking an Electrical Engineer I to contribute to energy-efficient building solutions. You will work under mentorship to perform load calculations, determine sizing and layouts, and prepare shop drawings.

As you gain project experience, you will lead small electrical project teams, write specifications, participate in client meetings, and support construction-phase work. Strong communications, organization, and teamwork are valued.

Qualifications

• BSEE/BSAE from ABET accredited school in Electrical or Architectural Engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Non-academic internship.
• Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities/student organizations preferred.
• EIT certification (Passed the FE exam) a plus.
• Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will initially work with and be mentored by experienced engineers and will yourself help to mentor designers. Your initial assignments will include performing load calculations, determining system sizing and layouts, calculating equipment sizes, selecting equipment, completing field surveys, and reviewing equipment shop drawings. As you gain project experience, you will take on a greater role in leading electrical project teams, writing specifications, participating in project meetings with clients and other consultants, and supporting construction-phase work.
