Baldwin EMC in Summerdale, AL is seeking an Engineer I to support the Engineering department with field and office tasks related to electric distribution projects. You will assist in site surveys, prepare work orders, and coordinate with members and staff to ensure smooth project execution.

The role emphasizes electrical theory, strong communication, and basic software proficiency. This is a full-time position with growth opportunities within the cooperative.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required.
• 0–2 years internship, co-op, or coursework in electric utility or distribution engineering preferred.
• Must know electrical theory.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient with Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Survey sites and design electric distribution facilities by staking lines and preparing work orders.
• Prepare work orders for new electric services and related distribution projects.
• Calculate CIAC, construction costs, and required deposits per policy.
• Coordinate with members and departments to clear ROW and obtain easements.
• Provide technical direction on conduit, meters, and transformer pads.
• Maintain records of costs for underground projects and non-standard construction.
• Respond to member and contractor inquiries.
