Job summary

Bird in Solon, OH seeks an Electrical Engineer I to contribute to the design, implementation, and validation of digital electrical hardware and FPGA-based functions used in Bird products. You will work with mentorship from experienced engineers on hands-on hardware development, bring-up, testing, and documentation.

Responsibilities include digital hardware design, schematic/PCB development, FPGA/digital interface work, prototype testing, and rigorous engineering analysis to ensure product

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Zero to four years of experience designing, developing, or testing electronic hardware.
• Fundamental understanding of digital circuit design, timing, clocks, resets, interfaces, and basic signal/power-integrity concepts.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, datasheets, timing diagrams, and interface specifications; use lab equipment for hardware development.
• Ability to document engineering work clearly and communicate technical information with quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement FPGA-based digital hardware and related circuits.
• Create and update schematics; support component/BOM decisions and PCB layout requirements.
• Develop, test, and verify FPGA logic and digital interfaces; assist timing analysis and on-chip debugging.
• Support prototype assembly, board bring-up, laboratory testing, and engineering verification.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and participate in design reviews; implement actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address production and field issues.
• Demonstrate attention to detail, quality, and engineering ethics while growing technical capability.
• Mentor junior engineers as needed during development and reviews.
