Qualifications

• Fundamental understanding of digital circuit design, timing, clocks, resets, interfaces, and basic signal/power-integrity concepts.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, datasheets, timing diagrams, and interface specifications; use lab equipment for hardware development.
• Ability to document engineering work clearly and communicate technical information with quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

Salary Range: $73,830.00 To $115,000.00 Annually

ROLE OBJECTIVE: The Electrical Engineer I supports the design, implementation, and validation of digital electrical

hardware and FPGA-based functions used in Bird products. Working with mentorship from experienced engineers,

this role provides hands-on experience in digital circuit design, schematic and PCB development, FPGA/RTL

development, prototype bring-up, laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and engineering documentation.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS/SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Electrical Engineer I performs engineering assignments of increasing scope and complexity under the guidance of

senior engineers and technical leads. The engineer applies established engineering principles, develops sound

engineering judgment, and takes increasing ownership of design, implementation, and verification activities as

experience is gained.

1. Digital hardware design: Contribute to the design and implementation of circuits incorporating FPGAs,

processors, memory, clocks, data converters, digital interfaces, and supporting circuitry using sound digital

2. Schematic and PCB development: Create and update electrical schematics, support component and BOM

decisions, define PCB layout requirements, and participate in placement, routing, stackup, grounding, and powerdistribution reviews.

3. FPGA and digital interface development: Develop, simulate, implement, and test FPGA logic and digital

interfaces; support timing analysis, constraints, and on-chip debugging during development and bring-up.

4. Prototype, test, and troubleshooting: Support prototype assembly, board bring-up, laboratory testing,

verification, and root-cause investigation using appropriate test equipment, simulations, measurements, and

engineering analysis.

5. Engineering tools and automation: Use appropriate simulation, analysis, scripting, and software tools to support

design, testing, data collection, and engineering evaluation.

6. Documentation and design reviews: Create and maintain technical documentation, test results, and engineering

records; participate in design reviews and implement resulting actions and improvements.

7. Cross-functional and sustaining engineering: Work with other engineering, manufacturing, quality, and test

functions throughout product development and support investigation of production, field, obsolescence, and

product-performance issues.

8. Engineering Practice and Growth: Demonstrate attention to detail, quality, accuracy, clear communication, and

engineering ethics while developing technical capability through mentoring, reviews, and engineering

assignments.

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/COMPETENCIES (Applicant must meet all to be considered):

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.

Zero to four years of experience designing, developing, or testing electronic hardware. Relevant internship, co-op,

academic project, laboratory, or similar hands-on engineering experience may be considered.

Fundamental understanding of digital circuit design, including digital logic, timing, clocks, resets, interfaces, and basic

signal/power-integrity concepts.

Coursework, projects, internships, or professional experience involving a FPGA or programmable-logic.

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, component datasheets, timing diagrams, and interface

specifications, and to use standard laboratory equipment for hardware development and troubleshooting.

Ability to document engineering work clearly, communicate technical information effectively, and approach

engineering work with attention to quality and accuracy.

1. Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, KiCad, or equivalent.

2. Experience with FPGA development, RTL simulation, timing constraints, test benches, or on-chip hardware

debugging tools such as ILA or SignalTap.

3. Exposure to high-speed digital design and interfaces such as DDR, Ethernet, USB, PCIe, JESD204, SERDES, or

similar technologies.

4. Familiarity with supporting mixed-signal and power circuitry, including ADCs, DACs, power supplies, references,

filtering, grounding, and sensor interfaces.
