Job summary

Type One Energy seeks an Electrical Engineer I&C to design, develop, and implement control systems for advanced stellarator technologies. The role emphasizes distributed control software, hardware integration, and lifecycle support of instrumentation and control solutions for complex scientific equipment.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, reliable, and high-performance operation of fusion system components, including CI/CD, verification, and validation activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience with instrumentation and control systems in complex technical environments.
• Experience with distributed, real-time control systems.
• Proficiency in control software development (e.g., C/C++, Python, PLC programming).

Responsibilities

• Develop distributed control software for stellarator systems and subsystems.
• Design and implement instrumentation and control architectures for complex equipment.
• Create design specs, interface definitions, and test plans.
• Support requirements lifecycle from development to verification and validation.
• Develop and maintain I&C drivers for diverse instrumentation.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline implementation and testing automation.
• Support system integration, testing, and commissioning of hardware and software.
• Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues during development and operation.
• Collaborate with mechanical, physics, software, and systems engineering teams.
• Ensure designs meet safety, reliability, and regulatory expectations for nuclear/fusion environments.
