Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Safford, AZ is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our site engineering team. You will support projects, review technical details, and help ensure safety and regulatory compliance across site initiatives.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, strong analytic ability, and excellent communication. Advanced degree or PE certification and power systems experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Ability to research and analyze information of difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
• Knowledge of safety practices and ability to communicate effectively.
• Experience with power systems and control design preferred.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements at local, state and federal levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice for designatedEngineering projects and programs at the site.
• Review, investigate and develop recommendations for assigned Engineering projects.
• Participate in small to medium site construction, expansion or modification projects.
• Administer vendor contracts for services and equipment.
• Develop knowledge of applicable regulations relevant to the area.

Where You Will Work

In operation since 2007, Safford operations is a zero-discharge facility and one of the most sustainable mines in the United States. The operation’s commitment to utilizing advanced technologies and sustainable practices strongly emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. What You Will Do

• Assist in providing technical advice and guidance for designated Engineering projects and programs at assigned site.
• Assist in the review, investigation and development of appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Engineering projects
• Participate on small to medium site construction, expansion or modification projects
• Administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
• Develop working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations appropriate to area of assignment
• Perform other duties as required

What You Bring To Freeport

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline with no experience required
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of Engineering
• Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification
• Knowledge and experience of power systems engineering including equipment design and specification, installation, testing and commissioning of industrial power systems
• Knowledge and experience of power systems studies including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and Arc flash study and Mitigation
• Knowledge and experience in designing process automation system including experience of producing instrumentation and control, P&ID drawings
• Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and/or Visio
• Self-motivated with excellent work ethic
• Proficiency in MS Office

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$75,000-$104,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
