Job summary

Bala Consulting Engineers is seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer to join our Boston, MA office to support enterprise-wide electrical projects. The role focuses on power distribution, fire alarm and lighting design across commercial and healthcare facilities.

Candidates should have 3–6 years of relevant experience, PE/EIT preferred, LEED accreditation looked upon favorably, and strong REVIT skills. The firm offers a rich benefits package and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years of experience in designing electrical power distribution infrastructure, fire alarm systems, lighting systems (interior and exterior) and lighting controls.
• Familiarity with short circuit analysis, arc flash coordination, interior/exterior lighting design and photometric calculations.
• Background in commercial and healthcare facilities strongly preferred; PE or EIT certification preferred; LEED accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare calculations for feeders, services, short circuit, transformer size.
• Design building electrical distribution, fire alarm and security systems.
• Perform on-site surveys of existing electrical equipment.
• Determine schedules and details required for the project; review with project engineer.
• Attend job meetings as required.
• Ensure flow of information between disciplines.
• Assist in writing reports and feasibility studies.
• Support developing electrical standards.
• Prepare cost estimates and specifications.
