Exponent is seeking an Electrical Engineer with energy systems expertise for its Houston, TX practice. You will join a multidisciplinary team to apply electrical engineering principles and investigative analysis to deliver high‑value solutions for complex technical problems across industries.

The role emphasizes collaboration with managers, engineers, and business leaders, while supporting growth of the Electrical Engineering Practice and its consulting services. Applicants should hold a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or MS with 3 years of relevant industry experience in Electrical Engineering after MS.
• Hands-on experience or a technical background in energy and power systems.
• Technical background in batteries and energy storage, power generation and distribution, wind and solar.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to gather information and convey technical conclusions to engineers, business and related industries.
• Ability to support multiple group projects and market the Electrical Engineering Practice and its consulting services.
• Experience in incident investigation in the context of failures and fires is a plus.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship required.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical engineering analyses related to ongoing Exponent work.
• Prepare technical proposals and pursue business development opportunities.
• Perform energy systems analyses and interact with managers, engineers, and non-technical staff.
• Conduct risk analysis, design analysis, and experimental testing for performance and reliability.
• Carry out failure analysis of electrical equipment and products.
• Critically assess test results and generate new testing protocols; maintain data collection and reporting.
