Job description

Ultra Motion designs and manufactures high-performance electromechanical actuators for unmanned vehicles in space, aerospace, subsea, and ground based markets.

We’re looking for a hands‑on Electrical Engineer to develop integrated BLDC servo drives, high‑power motor controllers, and power management and distribution systems. You’ll work across the full product lifecycle, from circuit design and prototyping through testing, production, and customer support.

Onsite Only - Must be willing to relocate to area.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and develop circuits, schematics, PCB layouts, and hardware prototypes for BLDC motor control, servo drives, and power management systems.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and validate hardware, addressing performance, reliability, and EMI/EMC issues.
  • Collaborate on embedded firmware for motor control, communications, and system monitoring.
  • Work with mechanical, manufacturing, and production teams to bring new products into production.
  • Support customers with troubleshooting, application guidance, and custom engineering solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Applicants must qualify as a “U.S. person” under 22 CFR § 120.62 or be eligible for any required U.S. government authorization. U.S. persons include U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), and individuals granted refugee or asylum status.
  • Experience with analog and digital circuit design; familiarity with power electronics, MOSFETs, gate drivers, and switching power supplies.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools; Altium Designer preferred.
  • Strong hands‑on lab and troubleshooting skills, including experience with oscilloscopes, power supplies, and electronic test equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and an interest in electromechanical systems.

Additional experience that's a plus:

  • BLDC motor control, including field‑oriented control (FOC).
  • Embedded C/C++, microcontrollers, real‑time control, and communications protocols such as CAN and RS‑485.
  • DC/DC converters, power distribution, and battery‑powered systems.
  • EMI/EMC design and testing.
  • Aerospace or other high‑reliability electronics.

We value practical engineering ability, curiosity, and initiative. You don’t need experience in every area listed to be a strong candidate.

What we offer:

  • Competitive compensation and profit sharing.
  • A collaborative engineering environment with substantial ownership of your designs and direct access to prototyping, testing, and manufacturing.
  • Varied technical challenges, direct customer involvement, and the opportunity to see your designs go into production.
