Job summary

Prime Data Centers is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support a portfolio of data center projects from concept through commissioning. You will work with the VP of Engineering and senior engineers, collaborating with design partners and equipment suppliers to ensure electrical systems meet Prime Data Centers standards.

The role covers master planning, RFP reviews, cost analyses, IAS/controls, PUE optimization, and on-site commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 3–6 years of electrical engineering experience, ideally in mission critical, data center, or other power-intensive facilities.
• E.I.T. certification or P.E. license (or active progress toward the P.E.) preferred.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam (or similar PDF software), Teams, Excel, and Word.
• Working knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks, and power modelling software such as SKM PTW and ETAP preferred.
• Working knowledge of applicable construction codes, with emphasis on the International Building Code (IBC) and the National Electrical Code (NEC) preferred.
• Familiarity with data center industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE TC9.9, BICSI Data Center Standards) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and Construction Support: perform electrical engineering tasks to support master planning and concept designs.
• Assist in reviewing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for design services.
• Support bid levelling and scope verification for design services proposals.
• Build expertise toward becoming an electrical engineering SME.
• Review consultants' engineering calculations and perform independent engineering and cost analysis on assigned items.
• Provide detailed owner review of design and construction deliverables, such as early design packages, drawings, specifications, equipment submittals, RFIs, and informal coordination.
• Flag proposed deviations from standards or requirements and elevate to senior engineers for decision.
• Research new designs, materials, and construction methods for data center electrical, telecom, and low voltage equipment and components.
• Support value engineering analyses in collaboration with construction cost estimator(s), preparing ROI and simple payback inputs for recommendations.
• Review IAS points lists and sequences of operation authored by others; assess power usage effectiveness and load sizing.
• Use engineering analysis programs (or review work created by others) along with engineering judgment to evaluate: PUE calculations; normal and failed load; electrical block sizing; arc flash studies; ETAP analyses; AGi32 lighting.
