Job summary

RTX's Aguadilla, PR location is seeking a student engineer to join a hybrid Co‑Op program in January–June. You will learn about the engineering team, technology, and how we maintain leadership in aerospace, while contributing to real hardware projects.

Responsibilities include circuit design lifecycles, schematic capture, testing, and integration of Collins products within our communication systems. A current electrical engineering student and U.S. citizenship required.

Qualifications

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in electrical engineering.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to access the information under this program/contract.

Responsibilities

  • Perform circuit design lifecycle activities, including requirements capture, schematic capture, design documentation, circuit design analysis like Performance, Stability, ESD/Lightning, Decoupling and Signal/Power Integrity analysis, creation of board stack-up and routing instructions, coordination and review of printed wiring board layout, creation of test plans, root cause analysis, and integration.
  • Design, develop, and integrate Collins products within the communication systems and test solutions in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Develop both engineering and production test systems, test interface adapters, cabling, technical drawings, schematics, circuit designs, and analysis.
  • Contribute to the completion of all stages of communication system and test system development.
  • Assist managing technical, cost, and schedule aspects of assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to develop proven hardware designs that meet system performance and operational specifications.

Immerse yourself in a Monday‑Friday Co‑Op session, that will run from January to June (it is expected students will take this time off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity). This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

What You Will Do

You Must Have

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Proven background knowledge or initiated experience in electronic circuit and hardware development, including digital/analog electronics, schematic capture, hardware integration, and hands‑on testing and troubleshooting of circuit card assemblies.
  • Proven background knowledge or initiated experience in Radio Frequency (RF) testing, schematic capture, circuit design, and hardware selection and integration.
  • Proven background or initiated experience with engineering tools and test equipment, such as logic analyzers, interface adapters (JTAG, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet), RF test equipment (RF Spectrum Analyzers, RF Network Analyzers, RF Power Meters, RF Switches), oscilloscopes, and ECAD/PCB design tools (NX ECAD, DX Designer/Expedition, Altium, Cadence Allegro, Eagle, KiCAD, etc.).
  • Theoretical knowledge about ensuring robust hardware performance, including signal integrity and timing analysis, FPGA/SoC design and testing, and working within Agile development environments (e.g., Jira).
  • Proven background or initiated experience in designing and developing electric and electronic circuits and systems for communication systems.
English Proficiency

English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co‑workers, or supervisors who only speak English.

Work Location and Hybrid Arrangement

Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. This means that responsibilities of the job need to be performed onsite in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on a regular basis with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.
