Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (PE) in Livonia, MI for a growing Architecture, Engineering & Consulting firm. Hybrid work arrangement with opportunities in Detroit, Midland, and Hancock, MI.

Must have a Michigan PE license (or actively pursuing) and strong background in electrical building systems. Responsibilities include leading design for commercial/industrial facilities, coordinating with teams, ensuring codes and LEED standards, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Michigan PE license or actively pursuing licensure.
• 10+ years of experience designing commercial building electrical systems.
• Experience with lighting design, power distribution, fire alarm systems, communications and IT infrastructure.
• Knowledge of current electrical codes and LEED principles.
• Ability to manage projects through design, construction documentation, and field support.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to travel locally and regionally as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and execution of electrical systems for commercial and institutional facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with water and wastewater treatment facilities or industrial process power distribution
• AutoCAD and Revit experience
• Familiarity with power system analysis or lighting design software
• Project management and client relationship experience
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
