Job summary

The Planet Group is currently seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer for a growing industrial engineering and construction firm. This role requires 10+ years of senior electrical design experience in industrial, chemical, or manufacturing settings and hands-on expertise with medium- and low-voltage power systems.

Responsibilities include leading electrical design and reviews, coordinating with clients and vendors, and ensuring project quality on schedule. PE license preferred; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of senior electrical engineering experience in industrial, chemical, or manufacturing settings.
• PE license strongly preferred; may be considered with sufficient experience.
• Experience with medium- and low-voltage power systems, grounding, lighting.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and design reviews for industrial projects.
• Perform engineering calculations, studies, and field investigations.
• Prepare technical specifications and requisition requirements.
• Provide technical direction to engineers and drafters.
• Ensure projects meet schedule and quality standards.
• Design and review medium- and low-voltage power systems.
• Interact with clients, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
• Travel periodically to client sites as needed.

Location: Greer, SC preferred; Augusta, GA, Knoxville, TN, or Pittsburgh, PA may be considered

Pay Range: $60-$65/hr. during contract; $125K-$140K when direct, DOE

Work Hours: Core hours are 9:00 AM-4:00 PM Monday-Thursday and 9:00-11:30 AM Friday. Flexible schedules are available.

Type of Employment: Contract-to-Hire - 6 months (1,040 hours) or Direct Hire

The Planet Group is currently seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer for a growing company in the industrial engineering and construction industry.

Qualified candidates must have 10+ years of senior electrical engineering experience with industrial, chemical, or manufacturing design experience. Experience with medium- and low-voltage power systems, grounding, lighting, hazardous area classification, and electrical design in heavy industrial or chemical plant environments is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to concurrent projects.
• Lead electrical design and design review activities.
• Perform engineering calculations, studies, detailed design, report writing, and field investigations.
• Prepare technical specifications and define subcontract and equipment requisition requirements.
• Provide technical direction to engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Direct project workflow to ensure projects are completed on schedule and meet quality standards.
• Responsible for the technical content, quality, and functional integration of electrical project work.
• Design and review medium- and low-voltage power systems.
• Develop electrical systems for industrial, manufacturing, chemical, and specialty facilities.
• Perform transformer and generator sizing and specifications.
• Apply NEC requirements, API recommended practices, grounding practices, and hazardous area classification standards.
• Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and other engineering software.
• Manage changes in project scope, identify project risks, and assist with contingency planning.
• Interact with clients, vendors, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
• Make periodic visits to project sites and participate in short-term field assignments as needed.
• Work with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of technical quality and professionalism.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience as a Senior Electrical Engineer.
• Industrial, chemical, manufacturing, or heavy industrial engineering design experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred; candidates without a PE may be considered based on experience and technical qualifications.
• Strong experience with electrical power, grounding, lighting, and auxiliary systems.
• Experience with medium- and low-voltage power systems.
• Experience designing and installing electrical equipment in heavy industrial and chemical plant environments.
• Experience with transformer and generator sizing/specifications.
• Knowledge of NEC and API recommended practices.
• Knowledge of grounding practices and hazardous area classification.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Ability to work on both greenfield and brownfield projects.
• Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Willingness to travel periodically to client and project sites.
