Job summary

HDR is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Buildings) to join our Building Engineering Services Group. You will design electrical systems for large institutional and industrial projects, coordinate with PMs, and ensure code compliance across schematic to contract document phases.

You will edit specs, select equipment, and support project administration. A PE license and 3+ years of relevant experience are preferred in this full-time role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
• Minimum 3 years of electrical design experience for buildings (lighting, power, systems).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects through schematic design and CD phases.
• Coordinate with agencies for code compliance and reviews.
• Develop and edit electrical specifications; select equipment and systems.
• Provide construction contract administration as needed.
• Perform QA/QC on other electrical staff's work.
• Collaborate with Project Manager and other disciplines on-site sessions.
• Address addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders.

In the role of Electrical Engineer (Buildings), we'll count on you to:

• Coordinate work of the electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project
• Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
• Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule
• Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
• Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
• Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment, electrical systems and devices
• Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
• Provide construction contract administration as needed
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
• Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
• Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)

Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.

• Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
