Job summary

HDR in Boise, Idaho, seeks an Electrical Engineer (Buildings) to join our Building Engineering Services Group. You will coordinate electrical design for large institutional and industrial projects, ensuring code compliance and timely delivery.

With a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and a PE license, you’ll contribute to sustainable design and collaborate with mechanical, civil, and structural teams to deliver high-quality infrastructure for data centers and commercial environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board
  • Experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Strong computer skills with AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power
  • Commitment to employee-owned culture and collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate electrical design for large institutional/industrial projects through schematic design and CD phase
  • Participate in code reviews with governing agencies
  • Coordinate workload to meet project schedule
  • Conduct project-site meetings with Project Manager and other disciplines
  • Review electrical documents for conflicts with other disciplines
  • Write/edit electrical specifications; select equipment and systems
  • Coordinate with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and changes; incorporate changes into documents
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other electrical engineers or technicians
  • Perform other duties as needed

In the role of Electrical Engineer (Buildings), we'll count on you to:
  • Coordinate work of the electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
  • Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule
  • Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
  • Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
  • Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment, electrical systems and devices
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
