Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Engineer with expertise in Automation and Control Systems for their Welkom, Free State operations. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting automated systems including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA, to optimize performance and safety on-site.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Electrical Engineer with expertise in Automation and Control Systems to join their established operations in Welkom , Free State. This hands-on role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing the efficiency and reliability of their industrial processes. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of automated systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems. Working closely with the production and maintenance teams, you will play a key role in optimizing system performance, reducing downtime, and ensuring the highest standards of operational safety and efficiency within a collaborative, on-site environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for industrial automation applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and control system issues on the plant floor, minimizing production disruptions.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, control logic documentation, and user manuals.
• Collaborate with the engineering and maintenance departments on system upgrades and new automation projects.
• Implement and adhere to safety protocols and regulations for all electrical installations and modifications.
• Participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement preventative measures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant technical qualification.
• Proven experience in industrial automation, including PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI development.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, motor control, and variable speed drives.
• Experience with SCADA systems and data acquisition is a plus.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills for on-site technical challenges.
• Ability to work effectively within a production environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams in Welkom .
