What You’ll Do
- Apply technical knowledge of electric power systems, automation, and related SEL products to complete complex engineering assignments.
- Lead customer training and assist with the design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of automation and protection systems.
- Lead project execution activities, ensuring work is completed within scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
- Support the development and presentation of proposals for SEL equipment, services, and system solutions.
- Mentor and develop less experienced engineering staff and provide technical guidance as needed.
- Model and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by helping teams understand, create, and simplify.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant experience with electric power systems and industry practices.
- Knowledge of electric power system protection and control, integration, automation, and communications applications.
- Experience with electric power system design, studies, information and communication technology, and protective relay applications.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
- Strong written, verbal, and documentation skills.
- Ability to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Experience in an electrical utility, industrial facility, consulting engineering, or system integration environment.
- Working knowledge of Vision or similar project tracking software.
Automation Focus Area
Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
- Software, integration, and automation systems
- Industrial controls and PLCs
- IEC 61850, DNP, Modbus, and other industry communication protocols
- Ethernet systems and protocol analyzers
- SCADA systems and industry automation practices
