Job description

Impact you’ll make

Join Lam as an Electrical Engineer! You’ll be at the forefront, designing and developing electronic solutions for advanced applications. Your role involves designing equipment, analyzing equipment, conducting experimental tests, and evaluating results to create reliable cutting‑edge solutions. In this role, you will directly contribute to the Sabre 3D product. Sabre 3D is a product designed for use in wafer level packaging (WLP) and through silicon via (TSV) applications.

What you’ll do
  • Leverage industry experience from monitor/panel/displays for semiconductor process zone control applications.
  • Develop a precision system for the fine control of current distribution at the pixel level.
  • Utilize a working understanding of TFT and OLED designs to influence future device level designs.
  • Support the manufacturing and fabrication process of these elements.
  • Implement calibration algorithms for device uniformity.
  • Operate as a project owner with a high level of autonomy and lead multidisciplinary projects.
  • Review complex problem statements and generate solutions. Identify and lead the effort of selecting the best solution.
  • Design and develop highly complex electrical systems, sub-systems, and/or solutions, applying engineering methods to design.
  • Design systems compliant to Lam and industry standards (SEMI, NFPA-79, etc.).
  • Lead research and development efforts by collecting and analyzing data to improve system designs.
  • Prepare high‑quality reports and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, analysis, and results to diverse audiences in design reviews.
  • Network with senior internal and external personnel.
  • Work within Lam systems for product lifecycle management: part creation, detailed documentation, release, and review processes.
  • Supplier management for critical parts and application as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience; or equivalent experience.
  • A good working understanding of panel/display technology
    • Experience with architecture, circuit, and control at the pixel level.
    • Experience with the manufacturing and fabrication process at the device level.
    • Calibration algorithms and methodologies
  • Hands‑on experience in circuit design (analog, digital) and controls theory.
  • System level understanding of electrical architecture, system integration, and applications.
  • Strong communicator: oral, written, and presentation skills in English.
  • Experience in troubleshooting with problem‑solving techniques like 5‑why, 8D, fishbones, etc.
  • Has excellent system level understanding of electrical architecture, design of IO controllers and applications.
  • Proficient in power panel electrical circuit design with safety interlocks & 3‑phase load analysis.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical related standards like UL, CE, IEC, SEMI, NFPA‑79.
  • Able to effectively communicate complex subject matter to non‑technical individuals.
  • Proficient at troubleshooting systems with oscilloscopes, analyzers, DVM, and log analysis.
  • Knowledgeable in CAD tools for circuit design and simulation (e.g., PCAD, ORCAD, ZUKEN, AutoCAD, Spice).
  • Driven individual that will model Lam Core Values.
  • Experience in product development and release.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in power distribution and/or control system design of industrial manufacturing tools.
  • Previous experience in the design of Semiconductor Manufacturing tools.
  • Experienced in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and low voltage circuit design for power and control applications.
  • Familiarity with FPGA design (VHDL/Verilog), synthesis, and simulation.
  • Ability to define functional requirements and execute in a dynamic team environment.
  • Mechanically inclined. Comfortable using hand‑tools and constructing items beyond the scope of electrical engineering in projects.
  • Familiar with design for serviceability, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Experience with anisotropic electrical connection methodologies and conformal coating.
