Job summary

LAM RESEARCH Corporation is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Global Products Group. In this role, you will design and define advanced mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, supporting the full lifecycle from concept to productization.

The ideal candidate should have 12+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and excellent communication and presentation skills. Knowledge of the semiconductor industry is preferred.

This position will be based in Fremont, California.

Qualifications

The impact you’ll make

As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you’ll be designing and defining cutting‑edge mechanical and electro‑mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology’s packaging.

Responsibilities

• Support the full life cycle of mechanical and electro‑mechanical systems from concept to productization, including conceptualization, designing, CAD modeling, development, and test/validation.
• Design components using a variety of metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings.
• Ensure documentation aligns with SEMI, Lam standards, and industry best practices for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Create engineering requirements from marketing requirements to drive product development.
• Be highly proficient in 3D NX Tool or equivalent.
• Apply structural, thermal, and fluid delivery system analysis through theoretical study and multiple developments of system design demonstrating working knowledge and use of thermal and structural FEA modeling.
• Develop system P&ID, define theory of operation for the hardware, use key problem‑solving and decision‑making tools, and perform risk analysis.
• Juggle multiple projects in parallel as needed.
• Develop and conduct feasibility studies and test plans to characterize and validate design performance.
• Prepare high‑quality reports and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, evaluation, and validation to a diverse audience in design reviews.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure solutions can be manufactured with high‑quality, cost‑optimized designs that meet requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to more junior engineers.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 12+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 10+ years’ experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong technical presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus.
• Experience leading projects or problem‑solving while managing time and multiple priorities.
