Job summary

Collins Aerospace, a RTX company, is seeking an entry level Electrical Engineer 1 for onsite work in Rockford, IL. The role offers learning in troubleshooting, design reviews, and support for test equipment within the Power & Controls division.

You will gain hands-on experience with electrical hardware, schematics, and component data while contributing to cost reduction and product improvements. Relocation may be available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM obtained prior to start.
  • U.S. Person (citizen, permanent resident, or asylee/refugee) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical components (resistors, capacitors, inductors, transistors, ICs).
  • Understanding of circuit theory and system design principles.
  • Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical hardware issues related to field returns, Zero Hour returns, and production yield problems.
  • Analyze alternate parts and write justification memos to support obsolescence and part shortage issues to mitigate impact to production.
  • Review and interpret electrical schematics, product manuals, and component datasheets to support investigations and issue resolution.
  • Assist in schematic updates and design reviews following department standards.
  • Perform basic design analyses in accordance with internal requirements and customer specifications.
  • Support as cognizant engineer for product Test Equipment team and support and debug production test equipment as needed.
  • Contribute to redesign activities focused on cost reduction, part obsolescence, shortages, and product improvement initiatives.

The Rockford, IL Power and Controls division is looking for an entry level Electrical Engineer 1. This role is onsite, in Rockford, IL. This role may be eligible for relocation.

What You Will Do:
  • You will troubleshoot and diagnose electrical hardware issues related to field returns, Zero Hour returns, and production yield problems.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) obtained prior to start.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical components (resistors, capacitors, inductors, transistors, integrated circuits).
  • Understanding of circuit theory and system design principles.
  • Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Exposure to embedded systems, microcontrollers, or firmware concepts and troubleshooting hardware.
  • Experience with schematic capture or simulation tools (such as Cadence or LTspice).
  • Hands‑on project experience, internships, or co‑op roles related to electrical hardware engineering.
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers).

Onsite:

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
