Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer for our Engineering Services (ES) Division, primarily focused on non‑nuclear facilities. In this pivotal role, you will develop electrical details, perform design/analysis calculations, produce specifications, and ensure that all project work meets applicable design requirements.

As part of our design agency serving the Engineering Services Utilities Project Delivery (ES‑UPD) Division, you will function as a vital member of multiple design teams, shaping LANL’s facilities and infrastructure to serve the needs of our growing and changing Laboratory. In this pivotal role, you will provide engineering consulting services across all project phases, including scoping, design, construction, commissioning, and operations.

Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college or university and 2 years of practical work experience necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above. Current registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) is highly desirable.
Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college or university and a minimum of 3 years of practical work experience necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above. Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is highly desirable.
The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (partially onsite and partially off‑site) within a two‑hour ground commute of Los Alamos. A minimum of two onsite days per week is required; additional onsite presence is preferred. Hybrid arrangements are at management discretion and subject to change.
Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance.
New‑Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new‑employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre‑offer.
Regular Position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular‑status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
Incentive Compensation Program: Position at the higher level is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, October 31st. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
