Job summary

Stantec in Walnut Creek, CA seeks a licensed electrical engineer to design and engineer projects within the water/wastewater sector. You will apply detailed electrical engineering knowledge to size, evaluate, and specify systems for projects as Engineer-of-Record when needed, and develop construction packages with drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

  • Licensed professional engineer with electrical discipline experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical system sizing, evaluation, and specification.
  • Experience applying codes and standards to project deliverables.
  • Ability to prepare design calculations and 3D models of electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with field investigations, client coordination, and construction packages.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, specify, and review electrical systems and products for projects.
  • Develop designs through sketches, diagrams, and electronic models.
  • Develop 3D models of electrical systems for design development.
  • Prepare and revise plans, single line diagrams, ladder diagrams, and equipment layouts.
  • Attend project coordination meetings with team members, consultants, owners and contractors.
  • Participate in client meetings, value analysis, and basic project cost estimating.
  • Prepare project specifications and coordinate with construction documents.
  • Conduct field condition reviews and respond to RFIs during construction.

Job description

Your Opportunity

You will be part of the electrical discipline designing and engineering impactful projects that range in size and complexity. As a licensed professional, your duties may include responsibility for project deliverables as Engineer-of-Record. You will be responsible for applying detailed electrical engineering knowledge, concepts and professional judgement acquired through experience to size, evaluate, select and specify electrical systems for use on assigned projects in accordance with relevant codes and standards. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include conducting field investigations, liaising with clients and/or contractors, preparing design calculations, development of construction packages (drawings and specifications), estimating construction costs, and contributing to business development activities. The projects that you will be assigned to will require knowledge of power distribution, power generation, controls, lighting and related electrical systems, particularly in water/wastewater applications. #ElectricalH2O

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, specify, and review shop drawings for electrical systems and products for a project.
  • Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Utilize technologies in development of three-dimensional models of electrical systems.
  • Prepare and revise documentation in various phases of design and construction, including plans, single line diagrams, ladder control schematics, equipment layouts and details.
  • Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
  • Prepare and coordinate the project specifications with construction documents.
  • Conduct reviews required to assess field conditions.
  • Conduct construction phase services, responds to RFIs, reviews shop drawings, and conducts reviews of construction for general conformance with design.
