Job summary

Lea County Electric Cooperative, Inc. invites an Electrical Engineer to shape the short- and long-term performance of our electrical distribution network in Lovington, NM. You will lead analytical work, coordinate with the team, and plan upgrades to meet growing demand and reliability targets.

The role emphasizes rigorous planning, data-driven analysis, and collaboration across departments, with a comprehensive benefits package and a Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing and database tools.
• Strong mathematical skills: trig, calculus, algebra, analytic geometry.
• Familiarity with NERC, RUS; experience with SPP is a bonus.
• Valid New Mexico driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive analysis of the electrical distribution system.
• Develop a four-year maintenance and construction plan for reliability and efficiency.
• Collaborate on system optimization including load flow, short circuit, and relaying studies; develop coordination studies.

As an Electrical Engineer at Lea County Electric Cooperative, you play a pivotal role in shaping the short- and long-term performance of our electrical distribution system. We are seeking an analytical thinker with a keen eye for detail and a passion for making a positive impact on our community.

Responsibilities:

• 1. Conduct Comprehensive System Analysis:
  
  
  
  • - Dive into the intricacies of our electrical distribution system.
  
  
  • - Formulate a robust four-year maintenance and construction plan, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our infrastructure.
  
  
  
  


• 2. Collaborate on System Optimization:
  
  
  
  • - Work alongside a talented team to analyze load flow, short circuit scenarios, and relaying schemes.
  
  
  • - Develop voltage, arc flash, and coordination studies to optimize the distribution network.
  
  
  
  


• 3. Proactive Planning for the Future:
  
  
  
  • - Anticipate and identify future system upgrades, aligning with increased loads and business expansion.
  
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• - A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.


• - Proficiency in electronic spreadsheets, word processing, and database management tools.


• - Strong mathematical skills in trigonometry, calculus, algebra, and analytic geometry.


• - Knowledge of Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories products or similar equipment (preferred).


• - A valid New Mexico driver's license.

Work Schedule:

Your commitment will be rewarded with a Monday to Friday schedule, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, allowing for a healthy work-life balance.
