Job description

VVater is a US-based, next-generation water treatment company that aims to provide Water for Humankind with a cornerstone of sustainability and a promise of a better, healthier tomorrow—servicing various industries and markets around the world from Real Estate, Wastewater Treatment, Municipal Potable Water, and multiple others, in particular, focusing on the recovering and recycling of different waters in a centralized or decentralized way. The company also does artificial beaches, urban lagoons, wave pools, surf parks, aquatics, sewage treatment, wastewater, and drinking water.

Job Description:

VVater is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Electrical Engineer to join our team, primarily on the Research and Development Team, focusing on our Farady Reactor technology and the Advanced Low Tension Electroporation (ALTEP) process. This role involves a multidisciplinary approach, requiring knowledge of electronics, power electronics, electrical systems, chemical processes, material properties/design, and mechanical engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and electrochemistry and a passion for developing cutting-edge solutions in water treatment and related applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, and optimize electrical systems for the Farady Reactors and ALTEP process, focusing on scalability, efficiency, and reliability.
  2. Design and develop low-voltage power systems, circuit boards, and control systems.
  3. Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  4. Conduct experimental research, including lab-scale testing, pilot-scale studies, and data analysis, to validate and refine electrochemical and mechanical designs.
  5. Perform calculations, simulations, and analyses (e.g., thermal, electromagnetic) to optimize system performance and reliability.
  6. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (R&D, mechanical, chemical, software) to integrate system components and ensure seamless functionality.
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges related to reactor performance, electrical systems, electrode materials, and chemical processes.
  8. Contribute to improving electrode design, power delivery, and process control to enhance efficiency, minimize energy consumption, and reduce operational costs.
  9. Oversee prototyping, testing, and validating electrical subsystems, analyzing performance data to guide design improvements.
  10. Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs), design protocols, and safety guidelines for installing, operating, and maintaining electrical systems.
  11. Stay updated on the latest technologies, techniques, and best practices in electrical, electroporation, and related fields to drive innovation.
  12. Present technical findings, progress reports, and recommendations to management, partners, and external collaborators.
  13. Support scale-up initiatives and field deployments, working with production teams, vendors, and contractors as needed.
  14. Adhere to all safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemical Engineering, or a related field; a Ph.D. is a plus.
  2. Preference will be given to candidates with Electrical Engineering degrees.
  3. Proven experience in various types of electrical systems, frequencies, and exposure to harmonic systems, including designing power supplies.
  4. Proven experience in various material science, physics, and other benefit industries.
  5. Proven experience in electrochemical research, reactor design, or related electrochemical systems, ideally in water treatment or a similar application.
  6. Familiarity with electrode materials, power electronics, electroporation processes, and reactor-scale design.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex experimental data and propose actionable solutions.
  8. Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS) for system modeling and design optimization.
  9. Knowledge of instrumentation, process control, and data acquisition systems.
  10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  11. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced research and development setting.
  12. A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  13. Knowledge of controls, instrumentation, automation, and SCADA or PLC systems will be a big plus.

As a part of our process to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of all applicants, assessment tests are required as part of our recruitment process. Unfortunately, should you elect not to participate in completing the assessment tests, your application will not be able to progress to the next stage or be considered during evaluation.
