Overview

E2 is looking for an entry-level distribution engineer to join our team in Kahului to support our main electric utility client Hawaii. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing overhead electrical distribution systems with the use of O-Calc software for pole loading analysis. Projects include Pole Replacements, Conductor Replacements, True Up Modifications, equipment upgrades, and Overhead-to-Underground conversions. The position will work under the direction of the senior engineer and will report directly to the Distribution Supervising Engineer or Engineering Manager. This position will be located in Kahului, HI.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed design and engineering calculations of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems to comply with the client's standards, specifications, preferences, and relevant industry standards (GO95, GO128, NESC, etc.)
• Perform field evaluation of proposed installation sites as required.
• Verify Bill of Materials meets the requirements of the design and client needs.
• Design distribution projects with neatness and a small margin for error utilizing PLS-CADD, O-Calc, SPIDA-Calc, or Pole Foreman software.
• Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop/flicker and pulling tension calculations.
• Conduct electrical design review meetings and provide minutes.
• Interface with project management and designers during the design phase.
• Communicate and coordinate project activities with the supervising engineer, client, and other stakeholders as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET approved college or university.
• 0 - 3 years of experience working in Transmission, Distribution, or Substation electric utility projects.
• Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

Preferred

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification in electrical engineering preferred but not required.
• Prior consulting design experience working in electric utility projects is highly desirable.
• In-island (Maui, HI) candidates.

Wage Data Per State Requirements

Salary range for this position is $85,000 - $145,000. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
