Job summary

Coburn Technologies is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead motion-control and electrical architecture for new lens-manufacturing equipment. You will design, test, and integrate stepper and servo systems, develop software, and ensure production standards.

You will work with a small, skilled team in a hands-on environment, combining office and manufacturing settings. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 6–8 years of directly relevant experience.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing and implementing stepper and servo motion-control systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, circuit design, simulation, controls, software integration, and production standards.
  • Experience with C, C++, Python, MATLAB, and/or PLC programming.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Entrepreneurial, ownership-oriented mindset and hands-on approach.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical and controls architecture for new products from concept through production.
  • Design and integrate motion-control systems including motors, encoders, controllers, drives, power supplies, and wiring.
  • Develop software with C, C++, Python, MATLAB, and PLC logic; test and troubleshoot systems.
  • Develop test equipment, procedures, and processes for production and quality control.
  • Coordinate with outside labs for certifications; train assembly personnel.
  • Collaborate across Supply Chain, Operations, Customer Support, Sales, and Field Service.

We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team and help design the next generation of lens manufacturing technology.What You'll DoAs an Electrical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing new products from concept through production. You’ll work alongside talented engineers and cross-functional teams to design, test, troubleshoot, and implement sophisticated electrical and motion-control systems.Your responsibilities will include:Lead electrical and controls architecture for new products, from circuit-level design through system integration and wiring.Design and integrate stepper- and servo-based motion control systems, including motors, encoders, controllers, motor drives, power supplies, and cabling.Develop and work with software using C, C++, Python, MATLAB, and PLC logic.Troubleshoot complex systems using oscilloscopes, DMMs, function generators, LabVIEW/data acquisition systems, and other diagnostic tools.Identify root causes and develop effective, lasting technical solutions.Develop test equipment, procedures, requirements, and processes for production and quality control.Support product verification, validation, safety, and compliance requirements.Develop and document assembly and testing procedures.Work with outside testing laboratories to obtain and maintain product certifications.Train and support assembly personnel.Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Customer Support, Sales, and Field Service.Provide technical support for customer-related issues.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and help drive projects to completion on schedule.What We're Looking For - Electrical EngineerWe’re looking for someone who is both technically strong and comfortable getting hands-on.
