Job summary

Anord Mardix in Virginia is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer onsite to design electrical functionality of products, select components, draw schematics, and validate performance.

You will develop designs for critical power systems, collaborate with stakeholders, generate BOMs, production drawings, and manuals, and support manufacturing with testing and qualification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with 2-3 years’ electrical design experience, preferably with critical power distribution, switchgear, etc.
  • Knowledge of UL standards related to electrical equipment (as applicable).
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and diagrams and troubleshoot as required.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical designs for critical power systems, from simple to complex projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish requirements for new or existing electrical systems.
  • Work with design engineers and CAD designers on engineering projects and generate BOMs.
  • Create user manuals, testing plans, and technical documentation.
  • Provide support during manufacturing to ensure design specifications are met.
  • Validate testing using procedures and appropriate tools; analyze results.
  • Travel may be required and flexibility for varying hours.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an Electrical Design Engineer (Onsite)

Reporting to the Engineering Manager - Production Support is responsible to design the electrical functionality of a product and have responsibility for specifications, component selection, circuit design, electrical testing and final product electrical performance.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Develop electrical designs for critical power systems (variety from standard to robust and complex)
  • Meeting with stakeholders to establish their requirements for a new or existing product or electrical system.
  • Working with a team of engineers and CAD designers on engineering projects.
  • Creates user friendly operation and maintenance manuals
  • Validates testing using manual procedures, testing tools and database queries, as required.
  • Cross functional team relationships with design engineers, quality department and production team
  • Work with quality team on assessing quality metrics and analyzing current Product Design and Production times
  • Build a culture of electrical safety in the department and throughout the company
  • Creating prototypes, testing them, and analyzing the results.
  • Validates testing using manual procedures, testing tools and database queries, as required
  • Providing support during the entire building process to ensure that the design specifications are met.
  • Analyzing problems that may arise during the manufacturing process and recommending solutions.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming,controls and ERP/SAP.
  • Deliverables include initial technical support, inter-departmental interaction and correspondence, generation of Bill of Materials (BOMs), production & drawing/instruction packages, factory/on-site acceptance test plans, Operation & Maintenance manuals, submittals/deliverables & project close-out, and job cost analysis.
  • Managing change control.
  • Responsibilities may include some travel and/or availability for other than normal business hours.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team,

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with 2-3 years’ electrical design experience, preferably with critical power distribution, switchgear, etc.
  • Knowledge of UL 891 Switchboards, UL 1558 Metal-Enclosed Low-Voltage Power Circuit Breaker Switchgear, UL 67 Panelboards, UL 857 Busway, UL 1008 Transfer Switch Equipment, UL 62368/60950 Information Technology Equipment, as applicable is preferred.
  • Candidates must be able to understand electrical system diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and be able to perform troubleshooting in accordance with Test Engineer/Shift Test Engineer documentation when required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in or with programs similar to AutoCAD Electrical and various MS Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention-to-detail, and multitasking capability.
