Loring Consulting Engineers, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer in New York, NY to join our Healthcare Group. You will design power, lighting, fire alarm, and communications systems for healthcare facilities, coordinating with clients and the project team.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of experience. Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is essential; healthcare project experience is preferred. EIT/PE is desirable.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year institution.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience designing electrical systems for commercial/institutional buildings.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
• Healthcare sector project experience preferred.
• EIT/PE desirable.
• Strong understanding of NEC and IBC.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Design power, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunications plans including all circuitry, details, one-line diagrams, and specifications.
• Perform system design calculations, load calculations, arc flash and fault current, lighting, and related calculations.
• Prepare electrical construction documents including drawings, specifications, and reports for healthcare buildings.
• Review electrical documents for conflicts with other building systems.
• Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects; attend client meetings.

The Team

Our Healthcare Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer with a sound knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and a demonstrated interest in building design to join their team. Working closely with our clients, the Healthcare Group focuses on providing solutions for hospitals, medical clinics, outpatient centers, labs, research centers, and other healthcare facilities.

Role and Responsibilities

• Design power, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunications plans including all associated circuitry, details, one-line diagrams, and specifications.
• Perform system design calculations, load calculations, arc flash & fault current, lighting, and any other calculations required to support electrical design.
• Prepare electrical construction documents including drawings, specifications, and reports for healthcare buildings.
• Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all building systems.
• Ensure design is consistent with the overall vision, and design schedules are maintained; work closely with the client and other design team members, including owners, architects, contractors, and members of other disciplines.
• Participate in the selection and specification of appropriate equipment for use in building systems.
• Incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings.
• Report writing and specification preparation.
• Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects.
• Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them.

Required Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields from an accredited 4-year institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in designing electrical systems for commercial/institutional building projects. (Ideal candidate has between 5-8 years’ experience).
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
• Previous electrical design experience with an AEC and/or MEP engineering consulting firm.
• Previous experience in healthcare sectors preferred.
• EIT/PE desirable.
• Strong fundamental understanding of the National Electric Code, and the International Building Codes.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking.
• Strong initiative—the willingness and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
• Ability to multi-task with multiple projects in order to meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.

The salary range for this position will be between $100,000- $130,000. This is a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills, licensure, location and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. At Loring, we offer a competitive benefits package, and eligibility for discretionary incentives based on position, which are determined by company and individual performance.
