Job summary

Loring Consulting Engineers, Inc. in New York City seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design mechanical systems for commercial and institutional projects, including schools, hospitals, and cultural facilities.

You will work closely with clients and other engineers to deliver energy-efficient building solutions. Responsibilities include system design, calculations, equipment selection, contract drawings, and coordination with architects.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in commercial/institutional building projects.
• 3+ years of experience designing HVAC systems for buildings.
• Strong AutoCAD and Revit capabilities.
• Strong fundamental understanding of NYC and national building codes.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• EIT license highly desirable.
• Solid analytical, quantitative skills and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking.
• Robust initiative and willingness to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
• Ability to multi-task with multiple projects to meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in accessible ways, both verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of HVAC design strategies for residential, K-12, higher education, labs, and commercial interiors is desirable.

The Team

Our Building Services Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a sound knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and a demonstrated interest in building design. Working closely with our clients, the Building Services team focuses on providing solutions for many different types of projects including schools (K-12), universities, residentials, hospitality, and commercial projects.

The salary range for this position will be between $90,000- $110,000. This is a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills, licensure, location and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. At Loring, we offer a competitive benefits package, and eligibility for discretionary incentives based on position, which are determined by company and individual performance.
