Job summary

T&M Equipment in Merrillville, IN is seeking an Electrical Designer to join our hands-on team. This role focuses on designing, building, and supporting electrical systems in a fast-paced industrial environment, both in the shop and on site.

You will develop detailed drawings, specify components, and provide technical support to shop electricians. Ideal candidates have 3+ years of electrical design experience, strong problem-solving skills, and good communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical design or related field.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
• Experience with PLC programming preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.

• Willingness to work days and occasional weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD.
• Design and specify electrical components, including cabling systems, VFDs, and radio controls.
• Source and procure electrical components to support project needs.
• Assemble and wire control panels, push-button stations, and configure/program radio systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, providing timely support for service calls.
• Provide guidance and technical support to shop electricians during fabrication and installation.
• Conduct site visits to evaluate projects, support installations, and ensure design accuracy.
• Develop and implement PLC programming for system automation.
• Design and troubleshoot specialized circuits, including tandem, synchronization, and anti-sway systems.
• Prepare accurate and comprehensive bills of materials (BOM) for all projects.
