Ben Aris LLC seeks an experienced electrical design professional for heavy industry projects in Mobile, AL. Responsibilities include creating 2D AutoCAD drawings for electrical power and instrumentation, performing field verifications, and coordinating with multiple disciplines to optimize layouts and costs.

The role requires strong knowledge of motor control systems, VFD design, and NEC/arc-flash safety, with 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.

Contribute on projects from the preliminary stage through startup.

Electrical/ Instrumentation/ Controls Design:

Create or ark-up existing drawings as required to communicate design intent.

Perform field work:

• Verifying existing plant conditions
• Routing tray, conduit or cable
• Layout new equipment for most effective use of space and resources

Preliminary design for installation of motors, instruments and controls.

Coordinate with other disciplines to produce projects with the lowest total installed cost.

Check design work for accuracy and ensure compliance with project requirements.

Design loop sheets, elementaries, system architecture, and other wiring diagrams.

Aid in the development of design standards and examples.

Support Scope and Estimates and proposal development.

Provide construction and startup support.

Desired Experience

Well versed in 2D AutoCAD doing electrical power AND instrumentation equipment. Min 3+ years

Well versed in electrical single line diagrams, symbols, and labelling.

Experienced in instrumentation hookups, wiring callouts, labelling, and loop sheets.

Experience in power MCCs and Distribution panel designs, their features, breaker specifications.

Experience in motor hardwired control systems & VFD design and use in motor controls.

Experience in heavy industry electrical power and control systems design, specifications, and layouts.

Thorough knowledge of NEC rules, regulations, etc, including:

Breaker frame and trip ratings.

Power wiring ratings and issues needing additional considerations.

Proven knowledge of all 3 types of grounding systems, their use, and correctly drawn in CAD.

Proven knowledge of hazardous areas and general classifications per NEC Article 500

Knowledge of NEC 70E Safety Code concerning arc flash and equipment spacing requirements.

Experience in local power distribution / Operator control panels and DCS/ PLC Remote IO cabinets

About You

5 + years experience in electrical design (will consider fewer years)

Heavy Industrial experience (Pulp & Paper/Chemical etc.)
