Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. designs and manufactures ultra-precision machining solutions for optical lenses, molds, mirrors, and precision components. The Electrical Engineer will lead wiring lists, schematics, circuit boards, and controls for ultra-precision CNC tooling used in optics and precision mechanics.

Collaborate with marketing, product management, applications, manufacturing and service teams to deliver robust electrical systems and support field deployments. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of work experience in Electrical Engineering or Master’s with 1+ year(s) of experience.
  • Experience using electrical equipment such as signal generator, multimeter, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer.
  • General programming knowledge (C, C++, or similar).
  • Experience in data acquisition, analog and digital signal processing.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and engineer new electrical systems that meet customer requirements.
  • Represent panel layouts, schematics, wire run lists and assembly procedures using CAD systems and BOMs.
  • Troubleshooting electrical noise and transients, controllers, servo systems, PMAC or similar equipment.
  • Perform engineering changes with attention to design impact and documentation.
  • Participate in product design reviews and collaborate to develop cost-effective solutions.
  • Contribute to written instructions and operation manuals for Precitech's products.

Job Description:

Precitech designs and manufactures ultra precision machining solutions for freeform diamond turning, milling, and grinding which are used to produce optical lenses, mold inserts, mirrors, and precision mechanical components. Our machines produce rotationally symmetric, asymmetric, freeform, and sculpted geometries with form tolerances in the sub-micron range and nanometer surface finishes.

The Electrical Engineer will manage and direct the design and specification of wiring lists, schematic and circuit boards, and controls components for use in ultra precision, computer numerically controlled, machine tools. Collaborate and partner with various internal teams to deliver and support products in the field, including marketing/product managers, application engineering teams, manufacturing teams, and service teams.

Primary and secondary responsibilities will include:

  • Conceptualize and engineer new, unique electrical systems that meet customer requirements.
  • Represent panel layouts, schematics, wire run lists and assembly procedures using CAD systems and documentation such as BillofMaterials, specifications, and routing instructions.
  • Troubleshooting electrical noise and transients, controllers, servo systems, PMAC (programmable Multi-Axis Controller) or othersophisticated electronicequipment.
  • Perform engineering changes according to standard procedures with extreme attention to detail of the design, how the engineeringchanges will affectdisposition of past, present and future effected products, and documentation.
  • Actively participate in product design reviews and work directly with the engineering staff to develop cost effective solutions.
  • Contribute to written instruction and operation manuals forPrecitech'sproducts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of work experience or Master's degree with 1+ years of work experience in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience using electrical equipment such as signal generator, multimeter, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer.
  • General programmingknowledge is desired: C, C++, or similar.
  • Experience in data acquisition, analog and digital signal processing.
  • Experience with amplifiers, filters,encoders, motion controllers, andfeedbackloops.
  • Experience using Matlab in modeling, data analysis andsimulations.
  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills are needed.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills through structured approach and solution generation in a timely manner.
  • Travelto customer sites up to 10% of the time.
Compensation

Employee Type: Salaried

Salary Minimum: 95,000

Salary Maximum: 125,000
