We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Electronics Engineer with a strong background in complex analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development of new instrumentation products, supporting projects from concept definition through manufacturing release.

This position requires a well-rounded engineer who is comfortable with system architecture, circuit design, prototype development, PCB design, verification testing, troubleshooting, manufacturing support, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of delivering successful electronic designs and working closely with software, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams throughout the product lifecycle.

The Senior Electronics Engineer will support product development activities across multiple AMETEK Spectro Scientific products and contribute to both new product development and lifecycle improvements of existing products.

ESSENTIAL DUTI ES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be a results-oriented team player who takes ownership of technical tasks and delivers high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Participate in defining system-level and detailed hardware requirements for new product development projects.
  • Design, develop, analyze, and document analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic systems.
  • Create and maintain electronic schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and engineering documentation using industry-standard EDA tools.
  • Perform PCB layout reviews with consideration for signal integrity, grounding, power distribution, EMI/EMC, manufacturability, reliability, and testability.
  • Perform circuit simulation, analysis, troubleshooting, and design validation using industry-standard tools and laboratory equipment.
  • Build, integrate, debug, and validate electronic prototypes.
  • Work closely with software, firmware, and mechanical engineers to support system development and integration.
  • Develop and execute verification plans to demonstrate compliance with functional, environmental, reliability, and safety requirements.
  • Support product certification activities including CE, UL or other applicable standards.
  • Support the transition of products into manufacturing, including release documentation, test procedures, assembly instructions, and production support.
  • Work with Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality to resolve technical issues during product introduction and production.
  • Support investigations of product performance, reliability, and field-related issues.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience designing analog, digital, or mixed-signal electronic systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing products from concept through validation and manufacturing release.
  • Experience with embedded processors, microcontrollers, FPGAs, CPLDs, or System-on-Module (SOM) architectures.
  • Proficiency with electronic design automation (EDA) tools for schematic capture, PCB layout, and design documentation. Altium Designer experience strongly preferred; experience with OrCAD, Cadence, KiCad, Mentor Graphics/PADS, or equivalent tools is also acceptable.
  • Experience creating and reviewing schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, engineering documentation, and release packages.
  • Strong understanding of analog and mixed-signal circuit design, including signal conditioning, sensor interfaces, low-noise design, and precision measurement techniques.
  • Experience with common communication interfaces and protocols including SPI, I²C, UART, USB, Ethernet, CAN, or similar technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, and DMMs.
  • Experience with prototype bring-up, debugging, verification testing, and design validation.
  • Familiarity with formal product development processes and stage-gate methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment.
