Job summary

Entegee is seeking a Power Electronics Design Engineer in Houston, onsite, to develop MOSFET-based power stages, perform PCB layout, and validate hardware in lab across 36–150V and 10–80A. You will troubleshoot hardware and firmware interfaces, EMI/EMC concerns, and provide production support.

Required BS/MS in EE, 8–12 years of experience, hands-on analogue/digital/power design, Altium, MSP430 or Cortex-M0/M0+, CAN bus, DC-DC and battery charger design, and strong hardware bring-up skills.

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
• 8–12 years of relevant electrical/product-development experience.
• Hands-on analog, digital, mixed-signal and power-electronics design.
• Experience designing embedded electronic products from concept through production.
• Proficiency with Altium Designer.
• Experience with TI MSP430 and/or ARM Cortex-M0/M0+ MCUs.
• Strong CAN bus and embedded communication protocol experience.
• Experience with DC-DC converter design.
• Battery charger design experience.
• Hardware bring-up and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read embedded firmware to support debugging and testing.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot hardware, firmware interfaces, communication, power-supply and EMI/EMC issues.

Job description

Power Electronics Design Engineer role focused on MOSFET-based power stages, PCB layout, and lab validation across 36–150V and 10–80A operating ranges. The engineer should be capable of systematically troubleshooting hardware, firmware-interface, communication, power-supply, EMI/EMC, and battery-related issues.

Required Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 8–12 years of relevant electrical/electronic product-development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience in analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power-electronics design.
• Demonstrated experience designing embedded electronic products from concept through production.
• Strong proficiency with Altium Designer.
• Experience with TI MSP430 and/or ARM Cortex-M0/M0+ microcontrollers.
• Strong practical experience with CAN bus and embedded communication protocols.
• Experience with DC-DC converter design.
• Experience with battery charger design.
• Strong hardware bring-up and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and understand embedded firmware sufficiently to support hardware/firmware debugging.
• Experience working with manufacturing and supporting production hardware.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with TI BQ797xx/BQ796xx or similar multi-cell monitoring AFEs.
• Experience with Analog Devices LTC681x or NXP BMS devices.
• Experience with DroneCAN.
• Experience with high-voltage battery systems.
• Experience with automotive, aerospace, defense, robotics, UAV, or other high-reliability electronic systems.
• Experience with EMI/EMC design and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with functional safety and fault-tolerant hardware design.
• Experience designing products for high-volume manufacturing.
• Familiarity with DFMEA, schematic reviews, PCB reviews, DFM, DFT, and design verification processes.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Space/Aerospace Electronics Experience: Previous experience designing and developing electronic hardware, BMS, power electronics, or embedded systems for space, aerospace, satellite, or other mission-critical applications. Familiarity with high-reliability design practices, component derating, radiation considerations, environmental qualification, and rigorous design verification is highly desirable.
• Military/Defense Electronics Experience: Previous experience designing electronic hardware, battery systems, or power electronics for military and defense applications, with familiarity with applicable MIL-STD requirements, including environmental and EMI/EMC considerations such as MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461, is highly desirable.
