Job summary

Confidential in Houston seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, integrate, and test sophisticated electrical and control systems for industrial applications. You will lead PLC/SCADA programming, instrument wiring, and system validation while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include interfacing with clients and vendors, defining requirements, FAT oversight, and field support.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of direct experience as an electrical engineer working on automated processes/system integration.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting electrical and controls issues.
  • Experience in creating automation controls systems (PLC, SCADA).
  • Understanding of UL508A, ATEX and IECEx codes and hazardous location specs.

Job description

As an Electrical Engineer,you will play a crucial role in the design, manufacture, and system integration of the final product. You will oversee the design and implementation of sophisticated electrical and control systems while working within a team-based environment to solve customer problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with teams, clients and vendors to gather and define system requirements
  • Define equipment control systems and interfaces for non-hazardous and hazardous environments; adhering to industry standards such as UL508A, ATEX, and IECEx codes.
  • Specify components based on customer requirements and hazardous location specifications (Class I Div. 1/ Zone 0/1 and Class I Div. 2 / Zone 2).
  • Configure hardware and software packages according to client design specifications
  • Program PLCs and configure HMIs utilizing ladder logic and programming languages
  • Program and configure VFD and soft-start devices for AC motor applications
  • Calibrate and configure RTDs, TCs and other temperature measurement devices
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and troubleshooting of control systems to ensure optimal functionality and reliability in demanding industrial environments.
  • Oversee the factory acceptance test (FAT) and installation of complex electrical systems, ensuring strict compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate plan progress to project stakeholders and manage project deliverables to agreed schedule and scope
  • Validate and commission facility systems following established execution protocols, and ensure the successful turnover of the system to the customer
  • Perform post-sale service support by remotely aiding field service team on escalated controls issues
  • Make an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of direct experience as an electrical engineer working on automated processes/system integration
  • A track record of proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and controls issues
  • Experience in creating and designing automation controls systems (PLC, SCADA)
  • A solid understanding of industrial control panel design and fabrication (UL508A)
  • A solid understanding of instrumentation and controls (I&C)
  • A solid understanding of engineering documentation (P&IDs, process flow diagram, standard operating procedures)
  • Experience with field instrumentation, control system installation, and configuration
  • Familiarity with machine safety applications, electrical power distribution, and control panel design
  • Proficiency in written and verbal technical communication, including generating reports and conducting group presentations
  • A willingness to travel for client and company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, and conventions
