Job summary

AMETEK PDS is seeking an energetic electrical engineer to join our growing engineering team. We design advanced, high-reliability aircraft power distribution systems, focusing on quality, reliability, and a culture of creativity.

You will lead detailed electronic design, validate and test circuits, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. The role includes prototype support, DV testing, and producing technical proposals in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5–10 years of relevant engineering design experience.
  • Experience designing analog, digital, microprocessor, and high-power AC/DC circuits.
  • Track record of on-time delivery of milestones.
  • Ability to produce accurate, detailed electronic schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, dataloggers, analyzers, waveform generators, power supplies, and programmable loads.
  • Ability to write technical requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.
  • Great communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides design leadership, coaching, and support in engineering practices.
  • Performs detailed electronic design, troubleshooting, validation, and qualification of circuits.
  • Develops systems to achieve required data rates and cockpit reporting.
  • Interfacing with other engineering disciplines for DV activities.
  • Supports prototype builds with startup and DVT testing.
  • Provides technical product support to manufacturing and customers.
  • Develops system architectures for aircraft electrical concepts.
  • Researches and develops new technologies to meet AMETEK goals.
  • Analyzes customer requirements and ensures safety, redundancy, and reliability.
  • Coordinates cross-functional teams during system integration testing.
  • Prepares technical proposals and cost estimates.

Job description

AMETEK PDS is seeking an energetic, innovative, electrical engineer to join our exceptional and growing engineering team. We design advanced, high-reliability, aircraft power distribution systems. Responsibilities


  • Provides design leadership, coaching, and support in the effective use of engineering practices to analyze, specify, design, document, and test products

  • Performs detailed electronic design, troubleshooting, validation, and qualification of power, analog, and digital circuits including microprocessor and EPLD-based systems design

  • Utilizing digital skills to produce the required Built-In-Testing coverage and achieve the data rates and responsiveness required to interrupt faults and report information to the cockpit

  • Regularly interface with other engineering disciplines, both local and remote, to perform development and design validation activities

  • Supports manufacturing activities during prototype builds, executing startup and DVT testing of new designs, and the completion of detailed FTA and FMECA analysis.

  • Provides technical product support and troubleshooting as necessary to manufacturing, customers and end users

  • Leverages knowledge of aircraft electrical system concepts and aerospace industry standards to develop system architectures

  • Researches, recommends, and develops technologies, processes, and methods to meet both customer and AMETEK goals

  • Analyzes and decomposes customer requirements into design requirements while ensuring compliance with safety, redundance, and reliability requirements

  • Responsible for the high-level coordination of cross-functional engineering teams during all phases of system integration testing

  • Prepares technical proposals and cost estimates


Required Skills And Experience


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Minimum of 5-10yrs of relevant engineering design work experience

  • Experience designing analog, digital, microprocessor, and high-power AC/DC circuits

  • A track record of on-time delivery of project milestones

  • Ability to produce accurate, detailed electronic schematics

  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, dataloggers, analyzers, programmable waveform generators, power supplies, and programmable loads

  • Ability to write technical requirements

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Positive, can-do attitude

  • Great communication and documentation skills


Preferred Skills And Experience


  • Airborne electronic hardware development experience using DO-160 and DO-254.

  • Experience with one or more of the following: I2C, SPI, RS485, CANBus, ARINC 429

  • Schematic capture using Altium

  • Some programming experience preferred. (C, C++, C#, Python, Visual Basic, or other)

  • Requirements capture using DOORS

  • Familiarity with ARP-4754A
