Job summary

Stiles Machinery Inc. in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is seeking an electrical/mechanical engineer to manage design projects and ensure on-time delivery within budget.

You will develop electrical assemblies for HMNA machine platforms, create schematics, and support production with technical guidance and problem solving. Responsibilities include developing sustainment/improvement to existing electrical assemblies, inputting new orders, and collaborating with multiple engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Understanding and applying engineering methodology in professional settings.
• Basic mastery of a standard NPD process in manufacturing.
• Ability to prioritize daily tasks based on production support and project timing.
• Basic capability in Electrical Engineering principles in project tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Manage design projects with limited guidance within time and cost budgets.
• Provide project summaries to HMNA leadership and manage Stage Gate processes.
• Ensure project information is organized throughout the lifecycle.
• Develop electrical assemblies and systems for HMNA machine platforms.
• Create electrical schematics and plans for HMNA platforms.
• Support production by answering electrical questions on HMNA machines.
• Create work instructions and SOPs for HMNA disciplines.
• Assist with input of new orders and modifications.

Essential Functions:

• With limited guidance, manage design projects to meet all time and cost budgets
• Provide project summaries to HMNA leadership and manage projects through standard Stage Gate process
• Ensure all project related information remains organized and useful throughout the project lifecycle
• As a salaried associate, it is expected that all work be completed on-time, regardless of hours clocked for the day/week
• Establish in-depth knowledge of electrical systems used in various HMNA machine platforms
• With limited guidance, complete electrical engineering activities in order to complete projects on time and within budget
• With limited guidance, develop new HMNA electrical assemblies and systems for various machine platforms produced by HMNA
• With limited guidance, define substitute parts to use in HMNA Electromechanical systems
• With limited guidance, develop sustainment / improvement to existing HMNA electrical assemblies on various machine platforms produced by HMNA
• With limited guidance, create electrical schematics and electrical plans for machine platforms produced by HMNA
• Support HMNA production by answering electrical questions on in-process HMNA machines
• Create work instructions and Standard Operating procedures for use in various HMNA technical disciplines
• Assist Order Engineering with standard work to input new orders or modify existing orders
• Assist Quality Engineering with standard work and RCCA investigationsli>
• Assist Mechanical Engineering with standard work and engineering projects
• Assist Manufacturing Engineering with standard work and engineering projects
• Support various HMNA disciplines by answering engineering questions and requests through the HMNA Engineering Ticket System

Qualifications:

• Fully capable of understanding and implementing engineering methodology in a professional environment
• Basic capability in the application of a standard NPD process in a manufacturing environment
• Fully capable of prioritization of daily tasks based on production support, standard work importance and general project timing
• Basic capability in implementing Electrical Engineering principles in project tasks and daily work
• Basic capability in Electrical Engineering processes related to industrial equipment
• Basic capability in reading and interpreting electrical schematics
• Basic capability in hands-on troubleshooting of industrial equipment
• Basic capability in troubleshooting control systems
• Fully capable of utilizing standard programs in the MS Office suite
• Basic capability in understanding and operating in SAP or comparable ERP system
• Ability to travel domestically for up to 2 months
• Ability to travel internationally for up to 2 months
• 5-10 years of engineering experience
• Education: Bachelors in Engineering
• Typical office / production environment
