We are seeking a Project Engineer, Electrical to provide electrical design and project management expertise for electrical and control systems projects across multiple manufacturing facilities. This role plays a key part in driving safety, quality, reliability, and operational efficiency through advanced controls, automation, and capital project execution.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, and drives, along with the ability to lead large-scale electrical and controls projects from concept through commissioning. This position requires close collaboration with engineering, operations, maintenance teams, and external partners, with approximately 30% travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and support PLCs, HMIs, and variable frequency drives
- Lead and manage large capital electrical and controls projects from concept through commissioning
- Support new plant projects, equipment upgrades, and redesigns of existing systems
- Develop scopes of work, request and evaluate vendor quotes, and manage project schedules and budgets
- Coordinate and manage external electrical contractors and OEMs
- Identify and implement technologies that improve safety, product quality, reliability, and operating efficiency
- Support standardization efforts for electrical controls, networking, and power systems
- Coordinate implementation and integration of OEM equipment
- Promote and support electrical safety initiatives and best practices
- Assist with plant rebuilds and major outages as needed
- Provide training and technical support to craftsmen, operators, and engineers
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of electrical engineering experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Hands‑on experience with Rockwell PLCs and HMIs (required)
- Project management experience, preferably with large capital projects
- Experience managing contractor relationships (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of Rockwell PLC and HMI platforms
- Experience with Ignition software
- Knowledge of industrial Ethernet networking
- Understanding of electrical power and control design standards and applicable codes
- Proficiency with computer programming, configuration, and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and external contractors simultaneously
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30% within the U.S.
