Job summary

Brightpath Associates LLC is seeking a Site Electrical Engineer to support the Maintenance Department at our Decatur, AL facility. You will maintain electrical diagrams, ensure NFPA 70E compliance, and drive PM and PdM activities for PLCs, HMIs, DCS, UPS, and low/medium-power plant systems.

You will lead electricians and mechanics, participate in PSSR, and help specify on-site maintenance capabilities. RCFA-based improvements and safety-driven commissioning are key aspects of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 2+ years experience with PLCs, HMIs, AC/DC drives and motors, distribution systems including transformers, breakers, cables.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Site Electrical Engineer supporting the Maintenance Department.
• Maintain and update plant electrical single-line diagrams and Arc Flash labeling.
• Serve as AHJ for NFPA 70E compliance.
• Specify PM and PdM activities.
• Apply knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, DCS and UPS systems (<600 VAC).
• Provide input to new Process Equipment Purchase Specifications.
• Direct Electricians, Mechanics, and other staff to support projects and maintenance.
• Train co-workers as needed.
• Participate in PSSR for safe commissioning.
• Specify on-site maintenance capabilities and tooling.
• Recommend improvements from RCFA findings and equipment trends.
• Ensure installations conform to standards by preparing electrical specs/drawings.

Job description

Focus on different projects in support of the plant's design and operational needs to ensure safe and efficient operations that meet business needs across the organization. Manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise and participate in long-term planning.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Site Electrical Engineer supporting the Maintenance Department.
• Maintain and update plant electrical single-line diagrams and associated Arc Flash Analysis / labeling.
• Serve as an Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for NFPA 70E compliance.
• Specify appropriate Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) activities.
• Apply knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, instruments, DCS systems, UPS systems, and low-voltage (<600 VAC) plant systems.
• Apply knowledge of DC voltage systems for PLCs, instruments, DCS systems, UPS systems, and other plant systems.
• Provide Maintenance functional input to new Process Equipment Purchase Specifications to ensure adequacy.
• Provide direction to Electricians, Mechanics, and other staff disciplines to support projects and maintenance efforts.
• Work collaboratively with I&E Technicians and Management.
• Train co-workers in areas of expertise as needed.
• Participate in Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR) to ensure safe commissioning and system start-up.
• Participate in specifying on-site maintenance and repair capabilities and tooling requirements.
• Recommend improvements based on Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) findings.
• Recommend equipment reliability improvements by analyzing equipment trends, historical data, and field data.
• Ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and plant requirements by preparing electrical system specifications and/or technical drawings.
• Establish construction, manufacturing, or installation standards and specifications by performing detailed calculations.
• Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and plant requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, and testing activities.
• Perform additional assignments as deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with PLCs, HMIs, AC/DC drives and motors, low- and medium-power distribution, substations, and power distribution equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, cables, and related equipment.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Facility Engineering.
• Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Thermography, and Motor Circuit Analysis.
• Prior experience in Chemical Manufacturing with Process Safety Management (PSM) is preferred.
