Job summary

AMETEK in Columbus, Ohio, seeks an Electrical Engineer to develop reliable power solutions for industrial UPS, plasma power sources, power controllers, and battery charging applications.

You will design and troubleshoot power electronics, support HDR product lines, lead research initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics.
  • 3+ years’ experience in electrical/electronics industry.
  • Solid understanding of inverters, transformers, PCBA components.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot power electronic systems and components (converters, inverters, PCBA, power controllers).
  • Provide engineering support for HDR products including power controllers and plasma power sources.
  • Lead research to enhance existing technologies and explore new solutions.
  • Conduct testing to resolve PCBAs and power electronics issues across development stages.
  • Collaborate with purchasing, QA, and manufacturing to meet objectives.
  • Create and review technical docs, including specs and test plans.

Job Summary

As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of reliable power solutions for various industrial UPS, Plasma Power Source, Power Controller, and Battery charging applications. Your expertise will be essential in enhancing the reliability and performance of power systems. This role is an excellent opportunity for mid-career engineers seeking to develop expertise in power systems while contributing to impactful projects. This role will also contain some Project Management & Product Development responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot power electronic systems and components, including converters, inverters, PCBAs, power controllers and power supplies.
  • Provide client support and production support from an engineering standpoint for the HDR line of products including power controllers and plasma power sources.
  • Lead research initiatives to enhance existing technologies and explore innovative solutions.
  • Conduct testing to resolve technical issues related to PCBAs and power electronics during various stages of product development and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as purchasing, QA, and manufacturing.
  • Create and review technical documentation, including specifications, design documents, and test plans.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience within the electrical or electronics industry.
  • A solid understanding of inverters, transformers, and PCBA components.
  • Proven experience in designing and developing PCBA and/or power electronic systems and components.
  • Knowledge of power semiconductor devices, such as IGBTs, SCR’s, capacitors, and diodes, and their application in various power conversion topologies.
  • Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with hardware design and circuit prototyping.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • A strong desire to learn and contribute to innovative electrical solutions.
  • Must possess strong communication, interpersonal, and organization skills, the ability to work closely with other team members to meet objectives and deadlines.
Desired Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of the electrical and/or power electronics industry.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations (NEC, UL).
  • Knowledge of electrical applications for high and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with EMI mitigation techniques in circuit design.
