Job summary

PEKO Precision Products Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Rochester, NY, to design machine control hardware/software, procure components, startup, debug, calibrate, and verify systems.

You will support the NPI group in developing new product designs, specs, and automated assembly, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable industrial solutions. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Understanding of PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell).
  • Familiarity with electrical schematic design and drafting software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment and procedures.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with component selection and sizing for electrical systems (relays, circuit breakers, wire sizing, power supply sizing).
  • Knowledge of text-based languages; C, Java.
  • Knowledge of best practices for industrial controls, NFPA/NEC code.

Responsibilities

  • Create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation.
  • Develop and maintain PLC software for various applications, including automation, process control, and robotics.
  • Assist in creating specifications, critical parameters and statement of work.
  • Apply knowledge in electrical power transmission, controls systems, programing, wiring/panel design, automation for design and development.
  • Conduct thorough electrical testing and troubleshooting to ensure system functionality and reliability.
  • Utilize problem solving and creative thinking skills to develop solutions and implement design options with customers, suppliers and manufacturing, while working collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and technicians to integrate electrical systems into complete electromechanical assemblies.
  • Participate in all phases of the product lifecycle, from concept and design to manufacturing, testing, and installation.

The Opportunity

Electrical Engineer

Primary Function

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for machine control hardware and software design, procurement of components, startup, debugging, calibration and verification. This individual will assist with the designing of electrical power and control systems for industrial and commercial equipment used in medical, pharmaceutical, alternative energy, semi-conductor and other industries. They will be supporting the NPI (New Product Introduction) group in the development of new product design and introduction, functional specifications, technical design, automated assembly, development and testing within PEKO and for our customers.

Essential Functions
  • Create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation.
  • Develop and maintain PLC software for various applications, including automation, process control, and robotics.

A reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 per year. The wage range for this role considers a wide range of factors when making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational requirements.
