Job summary

HDR is seeking an Electrical EIT/Coordinator (Transportation) to contribute to planning and design of electric vehicle charging infrastructure across public, fleet, and workplace settings, under supervision of senior electrical engineers. You will develop schedules, perform calculations, and support coordination with utilities and project teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
  • Desire to pursue registration.
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and design of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, including public charging, fleet charging, workplace charging, and charging infrastructure for emerging vehicle and fleet applications.
  • Work under the direction of senior electrical engineers to perform electrical design tasks, including electrical service and supply-equipment sizing, electrical calculations, one-line diagrams, equipment siting and protection, grounding design, and preparation of switchboard and panelboard schedules.
  • Prepare conduit and feeder cable schedules, duct-bank and trenching details, equipment schedules, design details, quantity calculations, cost estimates, technical specifications, and final design plans.
  • Conduct field investigations, site visits, existing-condition assessments, and due-diligence evaluations to support conceptual and final EVSE site designs.
  • Evaluate charging equipment, electrical infrastructure requirements, utility service needs, site constraints, constructability considerations, and opportunities for future expansion.
  • Prepare EVSE conceptual layouts, technical memoranda, reports, design calculations, and other project documentation.
  • Coordinate with electric utilities, equipment manufacturers, roadway, civil/site, traffic, structural, architectural, communications, survey, environmental, and construction teams.
  • Provide construction-phase technical support, including preparation of bid addenda, review of submittals, responses to requests for information, construction progress reviews, site inspections, punch-listing, change-order support, and incorporation of approved changes into project documents.
  • Support compliance with applicable electrical codes, accessibility requirements, utility standards, permitting requirements, and other relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines.
  • Participate in client and project meetings and support coordination with public agencies, fleet operators, utilities, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist with technical research, data analysis, grant applications, reports, presentations, proposal development, and transportation electrification industry initiatives.
  • Support the continued growth of HDR’s transportation electrification, Zero Emissions Mobility, and related transportation technology practices locally and nationally.
  • Perform assignments under the supervision of a professional engineer and progressively assume greater technical and design responsibility.
