Job summary

Willis Electrical, a UL-listed panel shop in Houston, is seeking an Electrical Drafter to create detailed electrical drawings, layouts, and documentation to support engineering projects.

This role collaborates closely with engineers, project managers, and other disciplines to develop accurate design packages for construction, manufacturing, or installation, ensuring compliance with codes and company standards.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • 1–2 years experience with AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent software.
  • Knowledge of electrical symbols, schematics and industry drafting standards.
  • Understanding of power systems, motor controls, PLC layouts and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Ability to perform basic electrical calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed electrical drawings, layouts, and technical documentation to support engineering projects.
  • Work closely with customers, production, project managers and other disciplines to develop accurate design packages for construction, manufacturing, installation and wiring.
  • Develop electrical drawings including: Create detailed 2D layouts and drawings for electrical enclosures.
  • Ensure drawings comply with company standards, electrical codes, 3rd party standards and customer requirements.
  • Review vendor drawings and incorporate approved equipment data into project documents.
  • Revise drawings based on engineering markups and client feedback.
  • Maintain drawing standards, document control, and revision logs.
  • Assist in standardizing design templates, symbols, and drawing practices.
  • Support continuous improvement of design processes and shop efficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation practices.

Job Description

  • Develop electrical drawings including:

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform basic electrical calculations
