Job summary

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp., parent to Liberty, seeks a Standards Engineer to plan, design, update, maintain, and communicate engineering standards for electric distribution and transmission systems. The role ensures compliance and supports uniform practices across lines construction and materials.

The Standards Engineer will train Construction Planners and field personnel, analyze materials, and collaborate with engineering teams to improve efficiency and standardization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
• Ability to express technical and non-technical information clearly to individuals or groups.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and design electrical distribution construction standards.
• Evaluate and monitor manufacturers’ designs for compliance with specs.
• Develop field studies of material standards to recommend modifications.
• Update substation and transmission construction standards with input from engineering teams.
• Provide technical training for Construction Planners and field personnel.
• Seek ways to improve job efficiency and standardization.
• Participate in team meetings and share ideas.
