Duke Energy in Garner, NC is seeking an Engineer I to provide engineering support within the Distribution Control Center. You will assist with clearances, switching, and collaboration across Grid Techs and Engineers to safely operate the distribution system.

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a Master’s degree in Engineering in lieu of a BS.
• Minimum of two years of engineering experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
• Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support to Distribution Control Center operations, including clearances and switching requests.
• Analyze data from multiple technologies to identify trends and determine corrective actions.
• Develop outage restoration switching orders to restore power after faults.
• Support storm response, restoration activities, and on‑call rotations (on‑call compensation).
