Job summary

Duke Energy seeks an Engineering Technologist/Distribution Designer II to design and facilitate electric service connections for residential and commercial customers. You will use design software and technical expertise to develop safe, compliant distribution solutions and support the local operations center with complex design challenges.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology with 2 years of related experience, or a High school diploma/GED with 4 years of related experience.
• Strong technical design and engineering knowledge.
• Good written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply technical expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve problems within the assigned area of responsibility.
• Support business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
• Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
• Conduct engineering and related studies to support distribution design work.
• Continually improve job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
• Develop positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
• Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Maintain accurate records and files.
• Support company goals and represent the company positively and professionally.
