Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Distribution Engineer to join our team in Houston for an on-site, direct-hire role. You will lead electrical distribution projects from design through execution, handling overhead and underground systems while ensuring safety and compliance.

Ideal candidates have 3–12 years of power distribution experience, strong problem-solving abilities, and the flexibility to travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 3–12 years of power distribution experience.
• Experience designing overhead or underground electrical distribution systems.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and engineering of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
• Assist with preparation of construction drawings, engineering calculations, equipment specifications, and project documentation.
• Participate in utility distribution projects involving system upgrades, reliability improvements, new customer connections, and infrastructure modernization.
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, clients, and subcontractors to deliver projects safely and efficiently.
• Review utility standards, codes, and regulations to ensure engineering compliance.
• Support project scope development, cost estimates, schedules, and technical reports.
• Respond to technical questions and supporting issue resolution.
• Maintain a strong focus on quality, safety, and client service.

Job description

Our client is looking for an Electrical Distribution Engineer to join the team! This is a direct hire, permanent position with competitive salary, benefits, and Employee Stock Options. This is an on-site position, 5 days a week. Engineer responsibilities will include leading and delivering electrical distribution projects (up to 34.5kV) from design through execution.

Job Description

• Support the design and engineering of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
• Assist with preparation of construction drawings, engineering calculations, equipment specifications, and project documentation.
• Participate in utility distribution projects involving system upgrades, reliability improvements, new customer connections, and infrastructure modernization.

• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Internship, co-op, or professional experience within utilities, power systems, energy, or infrastructure projects.
• Experience using AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, or utility design software. EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification or progress toward obtaining EIT.
• Knowledge of electrical utility standards and NESC requirements.
